Week 11

The people I’ve seen play the game interpreted it quite fast since the rules are so simple it was quite easy to pick up. Since our game’s rules were essentially move forward or back, it was quite easy for players to figure out how the game works and then all they need to think about are the chaos cards, which sow a bit of fun into the game. The players intuitively knew how to move forward and back it is a very simple system that involves simple movement that most people should be able to understand. The players understood well the Sequence of play such as in (Ernest page4).The thing that most players didn’t understand were the chaos cards that added special rules onto the very simple base given with the game we made, such as the cards that made you do the cuthulu role, it was stated in the rules but it could be confusing for some new players like should heads or tails be used for the win or lose side, while unimportant it did bog down gameplay a bit. The main strategy that presented itself imedietly in players was to bum rush it to the finish line, the players soon realized that it was a red herring though. The players that went for a mad dash to the end usually were targeted with the reverse movement cards immediately, in (Ernest page 6) they go over how strategy can be hinted at in the ruleset, but for our game we thought that the gameplay should be a bit more organic. With the simplistic rules strategy is quite intuitive depending on the cards dealt it might be in your best interest to just wait in the middle of the pack so you aren’t exposing yourself to unnecessary danger or to go on the offensive getting players off the board left and right. It mainly depends on how aggressive the player is some were just doing there best to survive while others were actively hindering or targeting a specific person, usually because they were in the lead in the beginning, or because they just didn’t want that player to be on the board anymore.
